SUANA offers

Individual counseling

In order to help, support and encourage the autonomy of female migrants who are affected by violence, SUANA offers information, through individual or group counseling, about:

• residence permit and asylum-related issues
• social law and family law issues
• options of financial support
• possibilities regarding the protection against violence act, in case of domestic violence, stalking or forced marriage

Group offers

If needed, SUANA offers group counseling on selected topics or in certain languages. The group counseling is supervised by one or more of our employees. In that way, the women get to know each other, exchange views and realize that they are not alone with their problems and wishes. Through this, the women develop long-term support networks and personal contacts.

Encouragement and qualification opportunities

In order to encourage the autonomy of affected female migrants, we offer many different intercultural education and training opportunities, as well as political-cultural offers. Many of the female migrants, who are seeking advice at SUANA’s, take advantage of our educational offers and visit kargah’s language or computer courses. They also participate in the offers of the International Women’s Meeting “La Rosa”, which offers cinema and information evenings, lectures, readings and events for the International Women’s day on March the 8th.

Preventive work

We offer information and clarification about and against violence in migrant families. This happens through various types of media, brochures, magazines, native language media, local radios and local television, as well as in district group discussions, events and lectures.

Public relations work

The Protection against Violence Act is available in 11 different languages. We supervised informative group discussions in many different districts. In 2005 we produced the film “Ich wehre mich gegen Zwangsheirat – ein nicht alltägliches Beispiel” (“I defend myself against forced marriage – an unconventional example“), in cooperation with the “Department for Women’s affairs and Equal Opportunities” and the “Department for Intercultural Affairs”.
